Just Relax

“The world isn’t stopping, the responsibilities aren’t going away. But we don’t need to be consumed by them.”

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Hey Momma. I know. There is so much on your shoulders. So many things and people you are responsible for. It’s a lot. It can be overwhelming and consuming. It’s natural to worry and be anxious. To try as hard as you can to find whatever it is you can control and take the reins.  


Momma, there’s a better way. It’s not always an easier way, in fact it might be one of the hardest things you do. But it is good and filled with so much more hope and freedom.  

Give it to Jesus. Not just once, but over and over again, surrender to Him. We serve a God who is bigger than all the things crowding our minds and hearts. He is bigger than your worries. He can help. He will walk with you and guide you. But most importantly, He will give you peace, which transcends all understanding.


When God says to not be anxious about anything, He isn’t being condescending and telling us to “relax” (because we all know just how helpful that can be). He’s actually giving us a replacement behavior. Bring everything to Him, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. And when we bring it to Him, He promises peace that guards our hearts and minds through our Savior.


The world isn’t stopping, the responsibilities aren’t going away. But we don’t need to be consumed by them. We can have peace and flourish through the responsibilities, with Jesus guarding us and walking beside us. He’ll lead the way, we just have to trust and obey.


Take a moment to:

  • Write these verses from Philippians 4 somewhere that you will see them regularly though the day. Add this verse from Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  • Say these verses out loud. Remind yourself of who is bigger than it all, who has control, and that He is so good. He loves you, Momma, and wants to fill your heart with His peace.
