“His spoken promise has morphed into a pillar in my heart for what He is capable of, an engraved reminder for the sufferings to come.“

“I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.” Isaiah 43:2 CSB
Growing up in a broken home I encountered a fair share of sufferings. As a child, to a teenager, to an adult, the Lord has carried me though these sufferings time and time again… Some sufferings being self afflicted and some from the sinful world around me.
But it wasn’t until I really started to live my life for Jesus that God gave me His wisdom and insight to be able to read His word in His true way. Not as a fluffy, feel- good way; But as a raw, comforting, light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel way.
His spoken promise has morphed into a pillar in my heart for what He is capable of, an engraved reminder for the sufferings to come. It is what catches me when I can’t bear to face what life has brought on. It's a promise that through marriage, parenting, family dynamics in a broken world, that He is still for me, just as He was for generations ago.
Looking back through all the hardships of life and looking forward through some current ones, I'm in awe of the ways that God has been with me through it all. Just like the well known image of the Isralites walking through the parted seas, I have physically felt Jesus’s arms around me, holding back what the enemy has meant for evil. He is the one lifting my face and wiping my tears.
Take comfort today in knowing that He loves us enough to faithfully be with us through all difficulties. He wants our hearts to be set so firm on this truth, that even when the promised storms of life come, we fall into His trusting arms.
Action Steps:
Take some time to really quiet your heart and worship Him through these songs. Give God your worries and woes, He can handle it.
