“As Jesus-following moms, we may be labeled as "weird" or "different" by society's standards. However, let us embrace our uniqueness with confidence and joy.”

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:5-6
As women and mothers, we often find ourselves questioning whether our choices and priorities align with the world's standards. Society may label us as "weird" or "different" as we seek to live according to God's Word. In Romans 8:5-6, the apostle Paul reminds us of the transformative power of living a Spirit-led life, rather than a life for the world. Let us explore these verses and discover how we can embrace our uniqueness as moms.
Verse 5 - Living by the Flesh:
In our modern world, there is immense pressure to conform to societal norms. We may be tempted to focus solely on worldly pursuits, seeking validation and fulfillment in material possessions, achievements, or social status. However, we are called to a higher purpose.
Living by the Spirit:
As Jesus-following moms, our ultimate goal should be to set our minds on the things of the Spirit. This means aligning our thoughts, desires, and actions with God's Word. By doing so, we invite the Holy Spirit to guide us in every decision we make. We must prioritize cultivating a deep relationship with God and seek His wisdom and guidance in our roles as mothers.
Verse 6 - The Consequences of Fleshly Living:
When we don’t make God the priority, choosing worldly pursuits over a Spirit-led life, we experience spiritual death. We may find ourselves feeling empty, restless, and constantly striving for more. The temporal pleasures of the flesh leave us unsatisfied and disconnected from God's purpose for our lives.
The Blessings of a Spirit-led Life:
On the other hand, when we set our minds on the Spirit, we experience true life and peace. As moms, embracing a Spirit-led life brings us a sense of purpose, contentment, and joy. We are able to navigate the challenges of motherhood with wisdom, patience, and grace. Our lives become a testimony of God's transforming power, demonstrating His love to our children and the world around us.
As Jesus-following moms, we may be labeled as "weird" or "different" by society's standards. However, let us embrace our uniqueness with confidence and joy. Our choice to live according to the Spirit sets us apart and allows us to be the godly examples our children need. We can raise our children with values that align with God's Word, teaching them to prioritize a relationship with Him above all else.
Action Steps:
Dear mom, take comfort in the truth of Romans 8:5-6. Today, prioritize your relationship with God and seek His guidance so you can experience true life and peace.
Embrace your role as a "weird" mom, knowing that through your obedience to God's Word, you are shaping the lives of your children and impacting the world for His glory.
