“God, in Jesus, pitched his tent next to you. He chose to be with you, not far off”

”And so the Living Expression became a man and lived among us! We gazed upon his glory. The glory of the One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!” John 1:14 (TPT)
This IS the true meaning of Christmas. This is why we celebrate! God made good on His promise to rescue and restore our relationship with Him; Close, personal, precious and dependent. The Greek can be translated as “He pitched His tent among us.” God put up His tent next to ours; not high on some hill just out of reach, not away from our busyness and our noise and our mess…but right next to us. He didn’t wait until we’d cleaned up our campsite and got our ducks in a row. When He came to pitch His tent, He didn’t come with judgment or impatience or heaviness; He came overflowing in everything our heart desperately desires and needs…loving kindness, grace, favor, tender mercy, sweetness, delight and truth. The true meaning of Christmas is that our Father is faithful, that His desire has always been to be intimately close and that He made a way, overflowing with grace. Girls, I don’t know about you, but that soothes my frayed edges and is a balm to my soul. What could be worth celebrating more than the Living Expression of God being with us: Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas.
So what do we do with this truth? Rest in it, moms. In whatever minutes you have left, sit, and let these words tear up your eyes and their truth melt over your shoulders: God, in Jesus, pitched his tent next to you. He chooses to be with you, not far off. And of all the things He could bring to you when He came, He brought tender mercy and truth. He is for you. And He is beautiful. Rest.
