The Spinner of Stars

“Our unfathomably big God, the Beginning and the End, the spinner of all celestial forms and the giver of every particle of breath… He is in control. ALWAYS.”

“For in him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers of authorities; all things have been created through him and for him” Colossians 1:16
Have you ever stared at the stars on a cloudless night? The constellations twinkling, showing us a blip of the fierce power and noise they emanate trillions of miles away. So many stars that it looks like the sky has a layer of dust. The Milky Way, floating peacefully like it isn’t a galactic bulge of raging stars and all their orbiting planets. It’s…breathtaking.
From the unfathomably big sky, to the intricately small breath it stole… God made it all, and holds it together, for His good pleasure. Because He can, and because it pleases Him to do so. Because He loves it. And not an ounce of it is unaccounted for, unseen by His eye, uncontrolled by His hand.
Our unfathomably big God, the Beginning and the End, the spinner of all celestial forms and the giver of every particle of breath… He is in control. ALWAYS. The Word calls that “sovereignty.” And those words have become a song He sings over my life, whispers of peace to my heart.
When my babies were younger, I struggled terribly with the feeling I was not cut out for the job. I cried myself to sleep for years, rehashing my days and lamenting my cluelessness. I clung to praying God's word and asking Him to parent louder than me in their lives, to out-love my shortcomings, and to guide them in His direction and hold their hearts safe. And He has. Faithfully.
If you’re new to parenting your kids according to the faith, you’re not too late. He is sovereign.
If you grew up without much of an example and are still working on your patience, He is sovereign.
If you prayed about how to guide your teen and are unsure if your guidance was right, He is sovereign.
God has a plan, and like the star’s orbits and our ability to breathe, He created your life as part of His plan. He created your kiddos as a part of His plan. And you as their mom was a good part of the same.
Take heart that He knows the end from the beginning, and you have never made a decision or an action that has caused Him to stumble or gasp. He is in control.
Action steps:
Stand outside tonight when the babes are in bed and spend some time looking at the stars, and remembering in your smallness that He is in control of your life. Then choose a night to take your kids outside, and speak that truth over their souls.
Read the following verses and meditate on them as a blanket to your heart.
Prayer: Abba, I bless You that You have made this world and everyone in it for Your good pleasure. Thank You that of all the things You could have been, You are love and grace and mercy when we so desperately need it. Calm our momma hearts with the truth that You are in control and that there is no decision or turn so far off track that we can’t return to You. May we find comfort in being so small and loved so big. Help us to pass this Truth on to our children, that they would walk in peace. We bless You because You are worthy of our praise. In Jesus’ beautiful name.
