“But, our God, the God of Moses, goes with us in motherhood, and gives us rest.”

‘And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”' Exodus 33:14
All throughout Exodus, God gave Moses callings, jobs to do, people to lead, manage, and care for. Moses didn’t always feel qualified to do all the tasks, but God promised, several times, to be with Moses, to help him in his needs. God knew that these callings would be difficult, that Moses would struggle, that Moses would need Him as a power source to draw rest from, and so, because God is such a good and loving God, He went with Moses and provided rest when needed.
In case you didn’t already see the similarities between Moses and motherhood, let me point them out now. A calling from God, jobs to do, people to lead, manage, and care for. And we don’t always feel qualified for the job. But, our God, the God of Moses, goes with us in motherhood, and gives us rest.
Going to God for rest does something supernatural. You might think you don’t have time, have too much to do. But when you make the time to rest, to draw from God as your power source, like the NLT version says, everything will be fine for you. He will personally go with you, give you rest, but also, productivity.
God knows what’s on our to-do lists, especially since a lot of times our to-do lists are filled with tasks relating to callings He’s given us (motherhood, for one). He wouldn’t call us to something and then tell us to rest from it if He thought it wouldn’t get done. Just the opposite. He calls us to rest SO our callings and tasks are completed.
Stay connected to your power source, mom friend. The rest will just happen (double meaning intended!)
Action Steps:
Stay connected to your power source the same way Jesus did. Take time, make time, to draw away from the world in prayer, worship and rest in the presence of God.
