Prince of Peace

“Go into each day with the knowledge that Jesus is wrapping his strong, capable, and loving arms around you.”

"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!" Isaiah 26:3 NLT

Mommas, the holidays are fast approaching, and our minds are already starting to race with the to-do lists and event schedules! In this time of Peace on Earth, we may be feeling like our sanity is being swept away by Santa Claus's sleigh... So how do we stay sane through all the hustle and bustle?

Start each day with a grateful heart. It’s no coincidence that Thanksgiving comes before Christmas. God is preparing our hearts and minds by having us recall all that He has done for us already. Colossians 3:15 reminds us, “let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”

Dive into God's word. Look up verses that will remind you that God is in control. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” God’s plans are so much greater than ours! So let His hands rest on your shoulders and give you peace.

Most importantly, go to God in prayer. Give Him all your stressors, the big ones, the tiny ones, and even the silly ones. He cares about them all! Live out Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Don’t let stress steal your joy and peace this holiday season. Go into each day with the knowledge that Jesus is wrapping his strong, capable, and loving arms around you. He will never let you go! Just keep your eyes fixed on the Savior, our Counselor, Prince of Peace, Holy One!

Action Steps:

  • Find an Advent devotional for you and your family to do, to help everyone remember what this season is all about.

  • Look for a scripture or song that helps you calm down. Listen to it or recite it each time stress or anxiety tries to creep in.

  • Remember to have fun with your family and friends this holiday season!

  • Make your own traditions and keep Jesus in the center of it all!

Dear God, thank You for the gift of Jesus, the One who alone can save us and give us lasting joy. Thank You that You promise to give us, the worried, the hurried, the pressured, and stressed out, rest and peace for our souls, if we'll just come before you. Thank You for Your reminder that we don't have to carry it all. Forgive us for the times we try to, for not taking time to rest. Thank You for the refreshing that comes from Your Spirit, filling us again with joy, covering us with a shield of favor and blessing, leading us forward with hope. Equip us to be those who notice the lonely, the hurting. Help us to slow down, to take time, to point others to You, and to remember most of all, what this season is all about. In Jesus name, Amen
