“We have already been given the perfect gift—eternal life with Jesus.”

"Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people." Hebrews 2:17
It’s beginning to look like Christmas! The decorations are hung up with care as the wishlists are being prepared. And stores are full of people looking for the perfect gift to share. Okay, enough with the rhyming… This time of year is so special, and moms tend to want to make it perfect by giving loved ones the perfect gift. It can be overwhelming, if we let it.
But take a deep breath! Because we have already been given the perfect gift—eternal life with Jesus. Hebrews 2:17 reminds us that God sent His perfect gift, Jesus, to live with us. He was sent to us, so that He could go through life understanding our emotions, our everyday trials, and our hopes and dreams. God didn’t send Jesus in shiny wrapping, or to those who were wealthy. He sent Jesus humbly to live and learn like us. He did all this knowing that one day Jesus would make the ultimate sacrifice to give us the wonderful gift of salvation.
Emmanuel is the perfect gift for us. He is God with us, He is our Father, a friend, and our great joy. So as your shopping list and stress grows this Holiday season, remember Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Jesus is all those things and more—He is our perfect present every day of the year.
