"The Holy Spirit lives in us as believers- what an amazing truth to rejoice in today!"

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 (ESV)
The Holy Spirit is a somewhat neglected part of the Trinity. As a Bible believing Christian, we affirm the triune nature of God- that He exists as Father, Son, and Spirit. However, the Spirit is still somewhat of a mystery to us, so it can be dismissed simply because it is elusive and misunderstood. Yet this should be far from the case! Jesus Himself says in John 16:7 that it is better for us that He ascends to the Father, so that the Holy Spirit can come to be with us.
The Holy Spirit is a distinct person, with a distinct personality. He is co-eternal with the Father and Son. All of the attributes and characteristics that are true of God the Father and Jesus Christ are true of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit convicts us of our sin, sanctifies and grows us, and empowers believers. One of the most amazing facts of the Holy Spirit is found in our passage. The Spirit “dwells with you and will be in you (v.17).” The Holy Spirit lives in us as believers- what an amazing truth to rejoice in today!
As God’s dwelling place, you are chosen, set apart, and holy. You were made with purpose, a mission, and given gifts of the Spirit. You are made in the very image of God Himself. May we rejoice in the Spirit of truth, knowing we are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
Action Steps:
Read 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19-20.
Reflect on your view of the Holy Spirit. Do you view Him as a distinct person? Do you worship Him as equal to Jesus and the Father? Repent if necessary for false beliefs about the Spirit, and worship Him with reverence and awe today.
