My Companion

“He offers wisdom when decisions are hard, patience when tempers are short, and grace when you fall short.”

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:2 (NIV)

Motherhood is both a sacred calling and a daily challenge. From sleepless nights to anxious prayers over our child’s future, we carry a weight that often feels too great to bear alone. But Psalm 121:2 offers a powerful reminder that God’s help is not abstract or distant. For every mother, it is personal and ever-present through the Holy Spirit.

The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation now hovers over your home, whispering peace into chaos and strength into weariness. When you're unsure how to discipline in love, how to comfort a crying child, or how to pray over teenage rebellion, the Holy Spirit steps in as your Counselor, Comforter, and Advocate.

He reminds you that you are not mothering alone. He offers wisdom when decisions are hard, patience when tempers are short, and grace when you fall short. Even in moments of hidden tears and silent exhaustion, the Spirit intercedes with groans too deep for words (Romans 8:26).

Psalm 121 reminds us that our help is not limited to human resources or self-reliance. It is rooted in the power of the Creator, and He has given us His Spirit as a daily companion in the journey of motherhood. I am so glad I’m not doing this journey alone!

Take a moment to:

  • Reflect on what ares of motherhood you feel the most need for help? How can you invite the Holy Spirit into this area and your daily parenting routine?

  • Reflect on what it means to you personally that your help comes from the Maker of heaven and earth?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for being my constant help in this journey of motherhood. I confess that I often try to do it all on my own. Remind me daily that my strength comes from You. Fill my heart with Your peace, guide my words with Your wisdom, and wrap my children in Your love. I trust You to help me nurture and lead them with grace. Amen.
