Let Him Guide

“He knows the best path for our lives - so why not trust Him? He has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.”

“The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you’.” Psalm 32:8 (NLT)

You know those personality tests that tell you all your strengths and weaknesses? I have taken a few, and one concept seems to always ring true throughout all of them. I am a control freak and I hate the unknown. So, when situations arise where I am seeking God’s call on my life, when I’m not sure of the direction to go, I go into overdrive. I internalize things and I try to rationalize and figure things out. And I don’t just think about it every so often…I obsess over it. It affects my everyday life and consumes my thoughts. It affects my relationships. I overanalyze everything! I’m currently going through a situation right now where I am doing just this, so it was obvious to me when I received this writing assignment that it was God using MMF to speak to me.

We know the truth of this verse, but it is so hard to actually put it into practice. God literally tells us that He will guide us along the best pathway for us. That He will advise us and watch over us. Simple! Powerful! Yet so hard to get that truth through our heads. He will always be working things out to get us to the exact spot where He has called us to be.

Look at it from our perspective as moms. We want to guide our kids with love, wisdom, and kindness. God wants to do the same for us. He doesn’t want us to go through the hard times to learn the lesson. He doesn’t want us to feel the pain or consequences of trying to go our own way, and not listening to Him. He wants us to lean into Him first and seek that best path. He wants us to listen to His guidance and go in that direction. He knows the best path for our lives - so why not trust Him? He has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.

He will guide you along the way to the BEST pathway. Desire with your entire being to be guided by Him. We demand answers from Him and always want to know the reasons “why” when all we truly need to do is seek Him. Learn from His word. Obey His commands. Take those faith steps that He is calling you to take. Doing these things will bring you to His true and right guidance. The best pathway.

Let Him Guide.

Action Steps:

  • Listen to the song: “I’m Listening” by Chris McClarney

  • Take time to stop and truly listen. Seek Him. Obey Him. Allow Him to supernaturally guide you through situations in order to get you where He has called you to be.

Prayer: God, I thank You so much that You are so kind to me. You are always coming after me to help me. I pray that You help me to step out of Your way and allow You to work in my life. You are so good and I know that You want the best for me. Help me to let go and allow You to guide me. Amen.
