“How comforting it is to know that when we don’t know our next steps, we can receive guidance from the God of our salvation, the God who created the earth and knows all.”

“Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:5
Moms, what would we do if our children needed advice, wisdom, or direction? What would we do if our children came to us, not knowing what steps to take, or needing to be taught? Would we ignore them? Tell them they’re on their own in figuring it out? Absolutely not! We’d give them guidance, teach them what they needed to know, and give them the wisdom they needed in order to make the decision or solve the problem.
But what if moms need wisdom?
Just like a loving mother, God will teach us what we need to know. He doesn’t create us and then leave us to figure out this life on our own. He is the loving mother that we can go to for advice, direction, and help with decisions and problems. God leads us in truth and teaches. How comforting it is to know that when we don’t know our next steps, we can receive guidance from the God of our salvation, the God who created the earth and knows all. And, when we call on Him, God is right there with us, and in the midst of His molding and guiding, are peace, comfort, love, and joy.
This verse from Psalm 25 isn’t from God’s perspective, telling us that He will just give us the wisdom, that we’ll just be born with it. This is a psalm of prayer, asking God to teach us His paths, to show us the way. We must put in the effort to seek God, know God, and allow His molding in our lives. We have to listen as much as we ask.
So let’s be moms that seek God’s wisdom, and let that wisdom flow into our own mothering.
Action Steps:
Reflect: When was the last time you sought God for wisdom when you weren’t sure what to do? Is going to God your natural response when you need direction?
Go to God today for direction and wisdom in whatever is going on in your life, big or small, life-changing or not. He would love to hear from you.
