How to Train Your Warrior

“Our actions, teachings, and prayers must all lead our children to a deeper relationship with Him.”

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

As mothers we have been given the incredible responsibility of raising our children in the ways of the Lord. We want to see them grow into strong and courageous individuals, who can see their way through the challenges of life with faith and conviction. In 1 John 3:18, we are reminded of the importance of not just speaking about love but also showing it through our actions and in truth. Today, let us reflect on how we can teach our children to battle in the simplest terms.

  1. Set an Example: Children learn best from simply watching their parents. Let our actions align with our words. Let us show them what it means to love and serve others, to forgive and seek justice. By living out our faith authentically, we teach our children the power of love in action.

  2. Teach the Word: The Bible is our ultimate guide and weapon in the battle of life.  Take time to read and study God’s Word with your children. Instill in them a love for scripture and help them understand its relevance in their everyday lives. Teach them to stand firm on the truth found in God’s Word.

  3. Prayer Warriors: Teach your children the importance of prayer and its role in their battles. Encourage them to have a personal relationship with God through prayer.  Teach them to pray for themselves, their friends, their community and the world.  Show them that God is always ready to listen and provide guidance.

  4. Armor of God: Introduce the concept of spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6:10-18. Teach them about the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit. Help them understand that God equips them for every battle they may face.

Dear mothers, as we teach our children to battle, let us remember that our goal is to point them to Jesus. Our actions, teachings, and prayers must all lead our children to a deeper relationship with Him. Let us equip them with the love and understanding of God’s love and truth, so that they may grow into mighty warriors for His kingdom.

Action Steps:

  • Choose one (or all) of these suggestions and do it today!

  • Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting us with the incredible responsibility of raising our children. Give us wisdom as we teach them to battle in this world. May our actions line up with our words, and may our lives reflect Your love and truth, strengthen our children’s faith and equip them for the battles they will face. In Jesus’ name Amen.
