Good Gifts

“My love and gifts for my children do not compare to the love and gifts our Father in Heaven offers and provides. His love and gifts are unmatched.”

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?” Matthew 7:11 (ESV)

As a mom, I love my children beyond what words can express. I love them so much that I am constantly thinking of gifts to give them – their favorite breakfast, quality time, an encouraging word, a big hug, a fun experience…

I want to give my kids all that I can and more.

Here’s the truth: I am a broken mom living in a broken world. My brokenness applies a blemished filter to my heart and mind. My love and gifts to my children are tainted. But good news moms, there is One who is pure and holy who wants to give your children good things.

God is God – the One who formed the universe, the One who breathes life into us, and the One who defeated death. God created you and me, my children, and your children. God formed each of our inner most parts – heart, soul, and mind. He knows every thought, desire, and unsaid word. Nothing is hidden from our Maker. He fully knows us and our children…

God knows our children best.

God loves our children more than us.

And God is able to provide the best gifts.

My love and gifts for my children do not compare to the love and gifts our Father in Heaven offers and provides. His love and gifts are unmatched.

Imagine the good things, the best gifts, God has in store for your children.

Action Steps:

  • The best gift we can give our kids is Jesus. Spend time talking about Jesus with your kids. Start incorporating Jesus into your everyday life as a mom.

  • Spend time in God’s presence through prayer and praise and worship. Talk to Him about your kids and ask for specific gifts. Here is an example, Heavenly Father my son is going through a hard time. Will you provide your supernatural peace and open his heart to see You in this hard time. Lord, please strengthen his faith. Thank you, Father.

  • God’s gifts include grace, peace, rest, wisdom, joy, faith, a new Spirit, and eternal life. Spend time diving deeper in all that God provides for you, me, and our children.
