God Is Our Supermom

“He is the perfect example of a parent, embodies all motherhood was designed to be, and all our trust is safe in Him.”

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast ad have no compassion on that child she has born? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” Isaiah 49:15

“Momma, have you seen my track bag?”

“Momma, will you pray with me, so I don’t worry?”

“Momma, you know all about (fill in the blank with something I probably have no clue about) right?”

“Momma, will you hold me, so I’m not scared.”

“Momma, sorry for my attitude.”

“Momma, you’ll be on time with my lunch, right?”

And the list goes on. I’m the finder of lost things, the kisser of ouchies, the prayer over troubles, the sounding board for apologies, the listener of hearts, and the one to help fill out college applications so they can fly the coop. I’m a mom, and my kids refer to these things as “mom powers.” We all have them, you and I, to varying degrees. Things like our ability to know what they’re up to without ever being in the room, or knowing the guilty party without anyone saying a word, and sensing their situation needs prayer even when they’re not with you. Our unending love, the comfort only a mom’s hug can bring, and our undying faithfulness toward our children. They are “powers”, gifts endowed to us by our creator, in order to love and nurture His children.

But this verse reminds us that in spite of all this, even moms fail. But our Father NEVER does. He does not sleep or slumber, He does not forget or forsake. It is impossible for Him to go against who He is…faithful. So momma, let's rest in that today. God is our empoweree when we need strength for motherhood, He is our example when we’re engaging a new season, and He is the one who will never fail us, or our children. Ever. He is the perfect example of a parent, embodies all motherhood was designed to be, and all our trust is safe in Him. It has to be in Him, because He is the only one who will not fail us. When the trial comes, when we’re at a loss, when it’s out of our scope of control, when they’re going to do what they want to do… He.does.not.fail.

Action Steps:

  • Allow yourself to sit in this truth this morning. This afternoon. After dinner. Refocus your heart, intentionally, on the fact that God is in control. He can’t forget you or your children. He will guide our steps, as the ultimate example of motherhood. Practice the habit of keeping your eyes on Him, momma. I’m praying with you.

Prayer: Father, You are unchanging, infallible, all-loving, all-powerful. The whole world is held together by You, Jesus, and in You, we and our children find our meaning. You do not fail. Help us, today, to rest in this truth that You are our faithful example, and the orchestrator of our lives and our children’s lives. Help us to teach them to acknowledge You in all their ways so that You can make their paths straight. In Jesus’ faithful name.
