“...God's hand is always in our lives, guiding and helping us.”

“Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you’ve seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you’ve seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.” Deuteronomy 4:9 MSG
As moms today, we have a lot on our plates when it comes to raising our children, right? It can be overwhelming thinking of all the different sports, social events, church activities, family time, etc… We live in a time that’s busy, busy, busy! And because of this busy life, we tend to forget the blessings that God shows us every day.
How do we stop and take a moment to appreciate everything he does for us?
I love doing devotions with my kids at bedtime. They each have their own way of thinking, and it’s fun to hear their perspectives on what we just learned. It’s also a great time to talk about their day, the good and the bad of it. Once a week, we ask what my children are thankful for, and their favorite thing they did during the week. It’s our quick way of helping remind them of the past and showing them that God's hand is always in our lives, guiding and helping us. It’s a quick and simple way to model your faith to your kids, allowing them that reflective time to be with you and God before they fall asleep.
Take time today to pause and recognize all that God has done for you.
Action Steps:
Start by writing down the things you have seen God do in your life (big & small). Share those blessings with your kids. Let them join you in thanksgiving.
Share your mistakes with your kids also. It’s important to show that we as parents make mistakes too. But God still loves us.
Start a routine of doing a short devotional with your kids. Try the Youversion Bible app. It’s a short video, a scripture, and even a short prayer to say together in less than 5 minutes!
