“Prayer is our weapon against the enemy, and it is an action word… so let’s act on it!”

“Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7
Let’s talk about cleaning for a minute. Such a constant chore we have to do! We clean one room, and most likely our kids are in the other room making a mess. We focus on one thing one day while another area is getting worse and accumulating more and more dust.
One of my favorite systems when it comes to cleaning my house is to spread my cleaning into a whole month. For example, one day I deep clean the kitchen pantry, and another, I deep clean the bathrooms. I do one load of laundry a day. Bam! Every month, most of my house gets a good cleaning.
What if we took that same approach to cleaning our souls?
What if our souls were sorted into sections or “rooms”, and we set it into a system so we can keep track and not neglect parts of our soul?
Sort your soul into rooms. Mother room, wife room, sister room, friend room, teaching room, CrossFit room… each of us will have unique rooms depending on our families, interests, and what we enjoy.
On Monday, check in with your mother room. Ask God if you’re being the mother He created you to be. Ask Him if you need to tweak anything or change your focus on anything specific that day. Pray for each child. Forgive them for any wrongs they may have done. Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight any pride, anger, or any other sin, and repent!!
On Tuesday, check in with your wife room.
And so on and so forth! Every day.
And just like how I clean one load of laundry every day, there will be some things you should pray for every single day for easy maintenance. Like picking up your cross and following after Jesus in complete surrender!
This system of prayer has been so helpful to me. It gives me something specific to focus my prayers on each day, a prayer strategy, to keep me from neglecting any area of my life. And it gives the Holy Spirit the opportunity to do some deep cleaning in every area of my life!
Don’t let the enemy have any possible way to wreak havoc in your life. If you leave an area alone for a long time, dust accumulates and it can get so gross. Be purposeful about checking in and cleaning out. Invite the Holy Spirit into every room and close every door to the enemy. Prayer is our weapon against the enemy, and it is an action word… so let’s act on it!
Action Steps:
Make a list of your “rooms”. Organize them out on your calendar so you have something specific to pray for each day! You can even write down your “deep cleaning” of specifically what to pray for.
