“Never forget that prayer is how we communicate with the most powerful high and almighty God, who is also our most loving and compassionate Father.”

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 (NIV)
“Take a deep breath and say a prayer”
Words I whispered to my husband last night before we went to bed. We’d gotten caught up in the stresses of life that feel all consuming; forgotten that we are deeply loved by a God who can gladly all consume us if we let Him. Rather, we’d chosen to stress about what’s out of our control, dwell on what we can’t change and linger in a space not meant for us.
Has this ever happened to you? When life is good we are so confident in God’s plan for us, but when life goes in a direction we weren’t expecting, all of a sudden we’re emotional, stressed and completely broken down. We are weak human beings when we turn our ears, eyes and hearts away from God. I imagine in those moments when we’re scared of the unknown and weak from doing it on our own, that Jesus would give us the biggest hug and say, “take a deep breath and say a prayer, just talk to me.”
Sometimes I think we go to prayer in these moments and plead with God to give us what we want instead of simply seeking the comfort of our loving Father. He can completely consume us with a supernatural peace we’ll never find on our own. Never forget that prayer is how we communicate with the most powerful high and almighty God, who is also our most loving and compassionate Father. Moms, take a deep breath and say a prayer.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of prayer. Thank You that we can communicate with You and in return You comfort us, reassure us, and give us Your Holy Spirit to dwell in us. When we doubt and are unsure of what’s ahead, I pray we would be most confident in those times of the unknown and that our faith would be tested so that we draw nearer to You. Amen
