Come To Me

“We can do this together. And guess what? Jesus will be there too.”

ree

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I know there are lots of jobs out there in which the people do heavy manual labor, or even stressful jobs that require a lot of brain power, but I still wholeheartedly believe that being a mom is one of the hardest and most demanding jobs there is. I’ve done the “I have a baby and a toddler” thing twice and let me tell you, it’s no joke. Being a mother to littles is HARD. The lack of sleep, the constant demands starting the minute you wake up, trying to remember everything that needs to be done, the anxiety, guilt, fear, and don’t even get me started on trying to be a good wife too.

It. Is. Wearisome. It is heavy.

Thank the Lord, we don’t have to carry all of that alone. Jesus said to come to Him for rest. Come to Him, take His yoke upon you, and learn from Him. But what does that really mean for our lives? How can we go to Jesus?

  • Prayer-Talk to Jesus. Ask for His presence. Ask for His guidance. Invite Him to be the authority in your life.

  • Worship-Put on some worship music and spend some time praising Him for who He is and what He’s done in your life.

  • Take His yoke upon you-Live the life God planned for you. Live in a way that furthers the Kingdom of God. When we all do the work together, the burden becomes lighter.

  • Learn from Him-Read your Bible. Learn what Jesus said. (Hint: Start with Matthew 5, there’s some great stuff in there!)

We don’t have to do motherhood alone. We don’t have to do life alone. We don’t have to stay weary and heavy laden. We can do this together. And guess what? Jesus will be there too. I’ll bring the snacks. He’ll bring rest for our souls.

Mom friend, I’m praying for you and this difficult and wonderful season we’re in together.

Action Steps:

  • Are you struggling with motherhood? We’ve ALL been there. Do the things I listed above. Go to Jesus!

  • If doing all those things is too much, choose one that you can do today. Every little step toward Jesus will bring you closer to Him and closer to rest.

  • Jesus is all we need, but friends are nice too! Friends can be a great resource when you’re struggling. Who can you call/text today and ask for some help or just some time with?

Prayer: Jesus, I'm so overwhelmed. I'm so weary and heavy laden with all that I have to do each day. I come to You, asking for rest. I ask that You come into my day, and be right there with me, helping me carry my burdens. In Your name I ask these things, amen.
