Battle Training

“Teach your children these promises so they have a built-in weapon for fighting against the enemy in their battles.”

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)

Don’t be afraid.

God is with you.

Don’t be discouraged.

He is your God.

He will strengthen you.

He will help you.

He will hold you up with His hand which has been victorious time and time again.

These are the truths I want my children to be armed with when they’re going through something difficult. As moms we have so many responsibilities when it comes to our children. Feeding them, clothing them, loving them, leading them to Jesus. But I think training them and equipping them for battle sometimes gets overlooked.

It can be difficult to think about the fact that your children will go through hard seasons, but they will because they’re human. Moms, it’s our job, our responsibility to equip them for everything they might face. Teach your children these promises so they have a built-in weapon for fighting against the enemy in their battles.

Today, let’s remind our children how big their God is and how much He can do for them.

Action Steps:

  • I think one of the best ways to get these truths to sink into our children is scripture memory. Choose a scripture that is right for your family, whether it’s equipping for battle or for something else. Say it every night before bed, turn it into a prayer or a game. Make up hand motions to go with it. There are a lot of ways to make it fun!

  • If you need a suggestion… start with Isaiah 41:10! If your children are very little, start with Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You”.  (Make sure they know “You” is God!)
