“As our kids grow, our hopes and worries change, but our God is faithful and His hand over our lives is constant.”

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
We all know there are different seasons in this motherhood journey. Some of us are at the beginning with babies and toddlers, some are in the middle with school-agers and teenagers, and others have grown adult children or even grandchildren. But the one thing we all have in common is that through all the messy and beautiful moments, we can trust in God’s grace and timing through all these stages.
Recently, in a Bible study, I was asked to think of something I was mourning. I was flustered because I thought it was referring to death. But the more I prayed about it, I started to realize that I had been in a season of mourning - I was feeling the loss of my littles, mainly the preschool stage (it’s my favorite). My kids are now 12, 11, and 8, and I miss their little voices and hands grasping for mine, their curiosity for all things weird or new, the silly things we used to do together, and even their constant need for my attention. Now they are all in school and more independent, with sports and friends taking up more of their time. I mourn that feeling of closeness and togetherness we used to share.
I started asking God to show me how to deal with this loss, and bring me joy in this new season of motherhood. Slowly, but surely, God has been healing my heart by opening my eyes to the beauty of this season. He’s showing me how my kids still need me in new ways and is giving us new adventures to walk through.
As our kids grow, our hopes and worries change, but our God is faithful and His hand over our lives is constant.
God understands our feelings of grief and joy, anxiety and hope. He is by our side, guiding and loving us through it all. So let yourself embrace each of these seasons of motherhood with a sense of peace, knowing He gets us, and He will be there to dry our tears and hold our hand through this beautiful messy life.
Action Steps:
Think on the season of motherhood you are in. What do you love about it? What would you like God to help you see differently in this season? Reach out to a mom friend who’s in a similar season as you. Check in with them and pray for them.

Prayer: Dear God, Thank You for every stage of this beautiful life. Give me strength when I’m tired, peace when I am worried, and joy through the every day struggles. Help me and each momma I know feel seen, loved, and supported. Guide my steps, fill my heart, and remind me that I am never alone — You are with me always. In Jesus name, Amen.
