“Finding your focus and vision will keep you steadfast on your journey, giving you hope for your future, keeping you steady when life gets stormy around you.”

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Our energy, power, and faith flow toward where our focus is. We choose where we want to give the most attention.
Where do you want your focus to be? Where do you believe it should be to have the best benefits in life? God. Jesus. The Holy Spirit. Heaven. All things righteous and holy.
Am I right?
What are some things that can hinder this focus? I think one of the biggest hindrances we can have is fear. Anxiety. The enemy loves to use fear to keep us from what God has for us.
About a year ago, I had a major anxiety attack that destroyed a God-given moment I desperately needed. After weeks of being home with sick kids and not having any communication, I needed that so badly. I was at church, talking with a group of girls, some of my closest friends. My one-year-old was asleep on my chest, so I was seated while everyone else was standing up. One of my friends was giving me a neck massage, while the other three were talking. I felt this unbearable feeling of not belonging. It was like an out-of-body experience, looking down on this group of friends. Because I was seated, I felt left out. It was ridiculous, of course, but that’s how anxiety is. Irrational. Everyone was speaking to me, and I was a part of this conversation. I still felt like I didn’t belong. An outsider. The enemy used my anxiety to ruin it. I left church feeling lonely, bitter, and more depressed than ever.
This is what anxiety does. It changes the focus. Suddenly that time of fellowship became all about me, me, ME, and I lost sight of truth. The truth that I am loved, cared for, and God can use me as a vessel to love and encourage others, even when I am depleted and empty. If I had taken a moment to look towards Jesus, that whole circumstance could have been changed.
When God’s Kingdom and His way of life is our FOCUS, everything else will be provided.
Lack of focus breeds anxiety. Finding your focus and vision will keep you steadfast on your journey, giving you hope for your future, keeping you steady when life gets stormy around you.
Action Steps:
What is getting in the way of your focus? Anxiety, pride, goals, perfection, addiction, schedule…etc. Take a moment to ask God, and pinpoint those distractions that are taking away from what God has for you.
Make a game plan for how to switch things around today. Maybe it’s giving up something or surrendering an addiction. It could be an extremely hard step; but I challenge you to take a step today.
