“He provides you the strength you need to carry on! When fear and doubt sneak in, let God’s perfect love cast it all out.”

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
“Mom-ing” is certainly a journey, isn’t it? Sometimes it’s messy and uncertain, and other times it’s beautiful and full of joy. Those messy times can cause me to pause and wonder what God was thinking when He decided to make me a mom. I’ve gone from zero to warp speed, spiraling in uncertainty and fear in a matter of milliseconds. I’ve looked around me and thought that I’ve made every mistake in the book raising my kiddos. I’d be dishonest with you if I said I’ve not done that more than once. I’ve even gone as far as thinking that there is no way my kids are going to survive as adults in this world based on how I parented them.
But then I remember… I am equipped by the Great Equipper!
In today’s scripture, Paul was teaching Timothy to be courageous, but as a mom, I too, am encouraged. Every day there are new challenges. Maybe the alarm didn’t go off at the right time, or you realized that your husband accidentally took your set of keys AND his, and now you have no way to get the kids to school on time. Being in charge of coordinating the household chaos is not for the weak of heart. You get tired. You get mentally exhausted, and you feel broken. One more sleepless night, and you think it’s all going to crumble in front of you. Been there? Are you there now?
Great news!! God’s power is made PERFECT in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). He provides you the strength you need to carry on! When fear and doubt sneak in, let God’s perfect love cast it all out. (1 John 4:18)
As a mom, you are uniquely equipped by the Creator of the universe to love, protect, and guide your children. With His help, all of your failures are perfected into something beautiful.
Action Steps:
Is fear holding a grip on you in certain areas of motherhood? Is it fear of not being good enough, fear of making mistakes, or fear for the future of your kids? List the first two things that come to mind.
Got your list? Re-read today’s opening scripture. Whatever is on that list, give it to God with the knowledge and encouragement that HE is in control and will help you conquer the insecurities.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the spirit of power, love and of sound mind that only You can provide me as a mom. Help me reject the fear that attempts to steal my confidence and embrace what You have for me. Fill me with Your love and wisdom and allow Your presence to guide me.
