“You don’t always have to worry about what you are or aren’t doing.”

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 CSB
It’s easy at times to get caught up in all the things we should be doing. I should volunteer more of my time, I should exercise more, I should be more generous in my finances. I should start a side gig, I should spend more quality time with my family, I should join that Bible study. Now don’t get me wrong, these are all good things. And to those moms out there checking all those boxes, just know, you are amazing.
But maybe you are overwhelmed with work commitments. Or maybe you are experiencing what feels like a spiritual desert. Or maybe you’re in the battle of your life and you have nothing left to give. Know that you too, are amazing, and that God is with you in your circumstances.
Paul reminds us here that sometimes we worry too much about the specifics of how something looks. Instead, shift your focus back to the basics. You don’t always have to worry about what you are or aren’t doing. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, do it for the glory of God.
Folding laundry… praise and thank Him for the family who wore them.
Cleaning house… worship the Lord who provided it for you.
Working long hours… ask the Holy Spirit to use you for His glory in your workplace.
Driving to the hospital for another treatment… pray to the Father and ask Him for a new perspective.
Let His presence in these moments fill you and replace the thought of what you should do with all the ways you are able to do as Paul says, working “for the glory of God”.
Action Steps:
Pick a time and set an alarm on your phone. When it goes off, stop and look at what you are doing at that moment. Shift your focus to how you can use that as an opportunity to glorify Him.
Listen to the song “How Can You Not” by Leanna Crawford and meditate over His goodness and presence in each moment.
