Maybe God Will Take Me to Target

“We, as mothers, don’t hold back on giving to our children, so why would God?”

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

The love of a mother is arguably the greatest love there is on earth. There’s nothing we wouldn’t do for our children. From making two different meals for dinner because toddlers are picky, to spending a ridiculous amount of money at Target because the teens “have to have” those leggings. We run our children all over town to get them to their different social events, and sacrifice sleep from birth through adult years. We just love them so much.

But God is even better than us at providing for His children. There is literally nothing He would not give up for us, the prime example being that He gave His own Son so that we could spend eternity in heaven with Him. He didn’t have to do that, just like we don’t have to buy the leggings. But mothers want their children to be happy, and God is the best mother there is. Just because He loves us.

I tend to hold back on asking God for things, because sometimes I feel that my problems and desires are too insignificant for the kingdom of God. But then I’m reminded that God wants us to ask (Matthew 7:7, Matthew 21:22). He wants us to have the things we need and desire, and because He is so gracious, and loving, God gives us those things.

When we align our desires with the kingdom and God’s plan for our lives, God gives. We, as mothers, don’t hold back on giving to our children, so why would God?

We love our children, want to spend time with them, want to have relationships with them, and want to provide for them. Mom friend, God does the same for us, because He loves us more than we can even imagine.

Action Steps:

  • Read Matthew 7:7 and Matthew 21:22

  • Reflect on how God has provided for you in your life. Spend time thanking Him for all those things and watch how your relationship with Him grows!

Prayer: Thank You, God, for always providing me the things I want and need. I know sometimes my desires seem as silly as a toddler wanting an extra meal, but You provide anyway. I’m so grateful for that, and I love You. Thank You for loving me the perfect way that You do. Amen.
