Let Me Ask Dad

“He made us, He made our kids, and He has perfect knowledge of absolutely everything.”

ree
“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6 NLT

At some point in time, we all just need advice. Situations arise that we don't know how to handle, new challenges pop up, relationships get (extra) complicated, etc. And it seems that nowhere is this more true than in motherhood.

So, where do you go when you need advice? A friend? Parents or other family members? A Counselor or trusted co-worker? While none of these options are inherently bad, they're not always the best. People have limited perspectives and limited information. Even the best-intentioned people and advice can lead us astray because of differing views and values, or just because of human error. So what do we do?

Our scripture tells us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come straight from God. He is never surprised or caught off guard. Nothing that happens in our lives is new to Him. He made us, He made our kids, and He has perfect knowledge of absolutely everything.

And not only does He possess perfect, infinite knowledge, but He shares it with His children through His Spirit, scripture, and other people. So next time you need wisdom, feel free to reach out to godly people, but don't forget to go directly to the Source.

Action step:

  • I stole this one straight from scripture: James 1:5 NLT “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

Prayer: Abba, Your knowledge is amazing, and Your wisdom is beyond our comprehension. Thinking about all the detail You've created and how intimately You know all of Your creation is astounding. Thank You for Your generosity and faithfulness is giving us wisdom when we need it and guiding us along the best paths. Please help us always turn to You for advice, give us the strength and faith to do what You say, and glorify You in every part of our lives. We love You. Amen.
