“For every stage and season, the best thing you can do is go to God for teaching and guidance.”

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5
Instagram and Facebook and Pinterest, oh my! There are so many influences constantly being thrown at us. How to have the perfect house, what activities are the best for toddlers, what foods to serve your family, how to dress as a mom. And if you look for long enough, they start contradicting each other. It’s all so confusing, so intimidating, and so exhausting to keep up with.
Moms, when we’re drowning in reels and pins, let’s remember there’s a better place to put our focus. Psalm 25 says that God, because he’s good and upright, will instruct sinners in HIS WAYS. (verse 8). All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful (verse 10). We have something better than our culture teaching us how to live, and more specifically, how to be a mom.
Psalm 25 reminds us to trust in the Lord, keep your eyes ever on Him, and hope in Him all day long. HE is where the best guidance comes from.
What do I do when I’m a new mom, and I’m exhausted and struggling? There’s a Bible verse for that!
What do I do when my toddler is throwing tantrums? Go to God, mama.
Bickering Siblings? Moody teenagers? Rebellious young adults? Read your Bible, and pray about it. Because He will bring you supernatural peace, wisdom, strength to keep going, whatever it is you need in that moment.
For every stage and season, the best thing you can do is go to God for teaching and guidance. Whatever influences we allow in our lives, will also influence our children, because they are looking to us for teaching and guidance. What do you want influencing your children? Instagram? Or God?
And to those of you moms who don’t use social media, I’m so proud of you! You get a gold star!
Action Steps:
Social media is not all bad (after all, Motherhood Meets Faith shares God’s truth with moms every day!), but we do need to be mindful of how much we’re letting it influence us. Take a few days off if you need to. Replace scrolling with a Bible App plan.
Read all of Psalm 25, it is the perfect encouragement for how to be a mom!

As another reminder, don’t struggle alone, mama. God can use godly, Spirit-filled relationships to remind you of His truth, too. Don’t be afraid to ask your community for guidance too, just be sure it’s Biblical.
Prayer: God, I fully trust in You, and I lift up my soul to You. Make Your ways known to me. Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth. I thank You, God, for my salvation and for Your steadfast love. Instruct me in the ways that I should choose, help me abide in well-being, allow my children to inherit the land, that is all the blessings You offer. May my eyes ever be toward You. Guard my soul and deliver me, let me not be put to shame. I take refuge in You, God. Amen.
