“God’s love, and the provision He gives because of that love, stirs us to be thankful.”

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” Psalms 136:1
God has given us our children, our blessings, our rewards from heaven, and tasked us with leading them to Him. This can be a huge job to do. There’s so much for our children to learn about God, but one of the most important facts is that He loves. His love for everyone, you, me, and our children, is so huge we can’t even comprehend.
God’s love, and the provision He gives because of that love, stirs us to be thankful. Today’s verse from Psalm 136 reminds us to give thanks to the Lord because of His goodness, and as mothers it’s our responsibility to make sure our children are being stirred to thanksgiving also.
Another huge job, right? How do we do this? How do we make sure our children are grateful for all God has done for them, when our current society breeds all kinds of envy, jealousy, and desire for more?
Love. That’s always the answer.
Moms, if we teach our children about God’s love, how to recognize it, how to see it in their everyday lives, they will be stirred to gratefulness the same way we are. It may take some teaching, some modeling, some molding, but when you plant the seeds, God makes them grow (1 Corinthians 3:6). It’s so important that we accept God’s love and allow it to flow out of us and into our homes and our children.
God is good. His love endures forever; it never goes away. His love will be there for all eternity, sprinkling grace, peace and hope (to name a few) over His children.
Let’s be grateful for that, moms.
Action Steps:
Have a conversation with your children about what they’re grateful for. Start the conversation by telling them you’re thankful for how much God loves you, and them.
Reflect on the past few weeks or months. Has God’s love flowed out of you into your surroundings? Choose one way you can share God’s love with your children today, and then do it.
