“He wants us to model His goodness to all of them, husbands included.”

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.” Matthew 7:21 NLT
God’s will.
What is God’s will? We’ve heard this phrase many times throughout our faith journey, but let's look into it. Matthew chapters 5-7 lay out the entire Sermon on the Mount, one of Jesus’ big teachings. To sum it up, God is wanting us to love; love Him and His Word, but also to love others well and to be of service to them.
When it comes to motherhood, many times we may wonder, “What is God calling me to do?”, “What is my ‘ministry’?” And yet we forget one of the biggest missions, to love our family and kids well, and to serve them. He wants us to model His goodness to all of them, husbands included. He wants us to show them how to walk in grace and mercy. He wants us to teach them what His Word says about “this and “that”. We can not forget our family is our ministry. And we need to make our time with our heavenly Father a priority so they can see Jesus in us.
Here are some ways to include God in our daily lives:
Spend time in the Word, with just one scripture verse you meditate on or dig into more. You can also take a verse (or a few) and try to focus on memorizing it throughout the day.
Find a good devotional. You’re here already reading great daily devotionals from moms for moms through Motherhood Meets Faith, but there are many others through the Bible app that have topics that can help through the different seasons you may be in.
Pray. As a mom, I know it’s hard to find “prayer time”. I’ve learned over the years to talk to God like you’re talking to a friend. When you’re out with the dogs in the morning, thank God for waking you and giving you the sunshine on your face. When you’re doing dishes or laundry, thank Him for His provision and pray over each person who eats off the plates or wears those clothes. Bless them and pray for protection over them.
Worship. Put on a great praise and worship playlist and let it go throughout the day. Take praise breaks with the kids, or throw up your hands when you feel the Spirit sweep over you!
Prayer: Gracious Father, We thank You for who You are and all You do! Help us to always seek Your Will and to love on our people well. Let Your light shine through us, Your love flow through us and Your Word speak through our mouths. We are Yours. Use us as You will. Amen
