“God uses our struggles to remind us that He is there right beside us. Our best friend!”

“proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalms 26:7 NIV
Life is full of struggles. Not the most upbeat start to a devotional... but it’s true. We struggle daily with small and big tasks in our household. We struggle with traumas or difficult events that have happened to us or to those we love. Our mom-brains are constantly working out scenarios. Should I do this, should I do that… It's exhausting!
Will life ever be easy?
Short answer-Nope…but I love what Paul wrote in Romans 5:3-5 MSG- “There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!” God uses our struggles to remind us that He is there right beside us. Our best friend! He’s building us up to be better moms, wives, and sisters in Christ.
I just finished a book about Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch Christian woman who helped save the lives of many Jews and others during WW2. She was eventually caught and put in prison, then sent to two different concentration camps. Each day during her imprisonment she praised God, looked for the blessings around her, and spoke of Jesus and His love to all that would listen. She struggled with anger, starvation, anxiety, and so much more. I can’t imagine surviving something so terrible and coming out of it with a positive outlook. But Corrie not only survived this but she went back to Germany and forgave her captors! This, I’m sure, took her many hours of praying and seeking God. She lived the rest of her life proclaiming God's word and His love to over 60 nations!
I want to challenge you to look for the blessings through the tribulations. It may not be easy some days but Christ will always show up. Knowing that through each struggle, God is strengthening you, and giving you the skills for what life brings next. No matter what you’ve been through, proclaim aloud praise for God and tell others of His wonderful deeds.
Action Steps:
Make a blessings journal- each day write down one thing/person that was a blessing to you.
Don’t be afraid to go to others with your struggles. Listen to wise counsel and pray on it.
If you are a reader, I encourage you to read the life of Corrie ten Boom, the book I just read is called The Watchmaker’s Daughter by Larry Loftis. It was an amazing testament of her faith and love for others.
Listen to “Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective- it’s a great way to get into the mindset and remember to trust God in all situations.
