Chose You To…

“God chose you. He does not make mistakes.”

One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.” Exodus 2:11-12 (NIV)

In today’s verse, we learned Moses was a murder. He killed an Egyptian. Guess what he did after he killed the Egyptian? He fled. Wait, is this the same Moses that led God’s people out of slavery? Yes.

Despite Moses’ past, God CHOSE Moses to…

Speak on His behalf.

Face and warn Pharaoh.

Save His children from slavery.

Sit in His presence.

Split and cross the Red Sea.

Listen to the people’s grumblings.

Lead His people to the Promised Land.

God chose Moses.

Mama, I don’t know your past. I don’t know what your teen years, first moments of parenting, or even yesterday resembled. But I do know this, God chose you.

Despite your past, God CHOSE you to…

Be a mom.

Train up your child in God’s truths.

Save your kids from the lies of culture.

Sit in His presence.

Pray bold miracles over your kids.

Listen to your kids’ grumblings.

Lead your kids to Jesus.

God chose you. He does not make mistakes.

And as God did with Moses, He equips you.

Action Steps:

  • Learn more about Moses by reading Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. A great place to start is Exodus 2:1. Take note of all the ways God equips Moses.

  • Take a moment to really reflect on this question: Do you believe God chose you, mama?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for loving me. Despite my past and my brokenness, You chose me to be a mom to (insert your child’s name(s)). Thank You, Lord. I invite You into this role of parenting. Guide my steps. Fill me with wisdom. Challenge me to better mirror You, Jesus. All to raise disciples of You, Jesus. In Your mighty name, Amen.
