Build Your Army

“...I know how important it is to have that supportive community.”

“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.” Romans 1:11-12 NIV

I’m not going to sugar coat it, this devo has been the hardest for me to write. There were times I wanted to pass it on to someone else. But, knowing that they are prayed over before they are assigned, I knew this was a topic I had to face.

Having the support of other moms is so very important. So much so that it’s even in scripture. But, just because it’s in God’s plan doesn’t make it automatic.

It’s been hard for me to make mom friends (or just friends in general) because for most, it’s all about personalities and seasons of life (aka kids around the same age). Though, with all that said, I don’t stop trying to make connections with moms of all stages of life because I know how important it is to have that supportive community.

God knows our struggles as mothers. He designed us to be in community so that we could lift each other up and support each other in our faith. There will be times when we don’t feel worthy and that’s when an army of moms comes in to tell that enemy (aka that evil voice in your head) to take a hike because he’s not welcome here! It only makes sense for us moms to stick together to lift one another up.

Action Steps:

  • Join a group to meet like-minded moms so you can build up your community.

  •  Join a serving team at church.

  • Volunteer at your child’s school.

  • Attend community activities for your age of children (the library is great!)

  • Join an online community. There are so many options! Motherhood Meets Faith has an online community just for moms like you who want to connect and grow together in motherhood and faith.

  • Strengthen any relationships you already have.

  • Check in with moms you may not have talked to in a while.

  • Schedule a playdate or coffee date.

  • Don’t forget to reach out to another mom friend if you’re struggling.

  • Prayer: Lord, I pray for my sisters in Christ. I pray they find ways to know they are a part of your plan. The plan of community, they are not alone in motherhood and that it comes in all walks and seasons. I want to uplift their spirit to know they’ve got this and to never lose their faith in You. In Jesus name Amen.
