Bright, Shiny Actions

"Let God’s light shine through your actions!"

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22

We have all heard the saying “Actions Speak Louder than Words.” and when I read James 1:22 that’s what comes to my mind. As Christians we are meant to live a life of service to God. Now don’t freak out, I know us moms are busy enough already! The thought of adding more to our schedule can feel overwhelming! But God isn’t asking us to add more stuff to our lives. He’s asking us to align our thoughts, words and actions with what he has shown us in his Word.

To be able to follow God we must spend time with him, through his word, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians.

One of the ways we can take action is by taking a bit of time out of our day to dive into His word. Set aside some time to do a short devotional, then pray on it. I used to do my devo time at night, because I’m not a morning person. Pick a time that works best for you!

There are so many amazing things to learn and each time you read a chapter, or verse of the bible you will learn something new! Knowing God's word will help you go out into your world with the confidence that every word, thought, and action is coming from the Holy Spirit who is working through you to shine God’s light on others.

I encourage you to read all of the book of James. James is full of encouragement to all Christians, on how to live their lives for Christ. There are 5 chapters, so you could read one a day. Meditate on each chapter, and write your favorite verses down. Then let God's light shine through your actions!

• Write down what sticks out to you. Use a post-it and hang it where you’ll see it often throughout your day.

• Pray on it.

• Live it!
