Session Title: Staying Salty in Every Season of Motherhood

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” (Matthew‬ â€5‬:â€13‬, â€ESV‬‬)
“Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (â€â€Luke‬ â€14‬:â€34‬-â€35‬, â€ESV‬‬)
Saying someone is “salty“ in today’s vernacular can imply that someone is angry, or upset, but when we trace salt back to its biblical roots, the original meaning might just surprise you.
Even when looking at it through a biblical lens, we can tend to focus on salt as a flavoring or preservative, only focusing on the culinary aspect of salt. However, when we dig a little deeper, we find that in the original text, salt was used more agriculturally, for a fertilizer and a disinfectant.
What does this have to do with motherhood? I’m so glad you asked!
This breakout session will focus on how we can practically “fertilize” and grow the good things in our kids while “disinfecting” and slowing the growth of the bad things.
How do we stay salty in the fields of faith in which God has planted us in a world that has lost its saltiness?
How do we raise our kids, toddlers to teens, and every stage in between, while tending to each stage of growth to ensure a good yield, good fruit, and a harvest of righteousness?
We will answer these questions and more as we seek to stay salty together in every season of motherhood.
