‘How kind is the all-powerful God to extend His arms to us while saying “come to me”.’

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message Remix)
Are you tired?
Worn out?
Has life swept you into its rushing current where you’re bobbing in and out of the water, barely afloat?
Mom friend, you’re not alone.
Just this past weekend, I found my heart and mind stuck in a space that brought on anger, bitterness, and resentment. Ya’ll I was in a funk and unfortunately one I couldn’t get out of alone. It was during my Sabbath, and the break from life’s noise became torture as I was still with my broken soul.
At the end of the day, I sent a text to my community that read “Ladies, not to be a downer, but could you pray for me? I just feel like I hate my life… I know it sounds dramatic. Just in a big funk today.” Okay, I don’t actually hate my life, in fact I love my life.
Why did I say that? What’s wrong with me?
I was immediately met with text chains of prayers, verses, questions leading me to God’s truth, encouragement, and pure love. I felt better, but something was going on in my heart.
Lord, help me.
The next day I praised and worshiped our heavenly Father. Then BAM - roll the tears as I heard “you are tired, my child”.
I am emotionally tired. I am emotionally worn out.
I love God’s invitation to us daughters, “Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest”.
How kind is the all-powerful God to extend His arms to us while saying “come to me”. Come to me (insert your name). I’ve got you!
Mom friends, He is waiting for you with an open and loving invitation to bring your tired, worn-out heart to Him.
Action Steps:
“Are you tired? Worn out?” Take a pulse: How’s your heart? Are you tired? Physically, emotionally, socially?
“Come to me” Talk with God about your heart, soul, body, and mind. Share the details of it all.
“Get away with me” Start implementing the practices of Jesus (Sabbath, solitude, simplicity, a quiet life). Start small. Plan and dedicate time to “get away with Him”.
You’re not alone. God is with you. His Word is with you. There’s also a community of moms cheering you on, sister!

Father, Thank You for being so kind to us. Thank You for not being irritated with us when we find ourselves in a funk or hurried through life. Instead, You love us so well. You invite us into Your safe arms. Reveal to us the next steps in resting in You. In your loving name, Amen.
