“Soul weariness can be worse than physical fatigue, but God gives us a promise in this verse: God is an inexhaustible well of strength for the weary and burdened.”

“He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless.” Isaiah 40:29
Raise your hand if you’ve ever had a moment, an hour, a day or a season where you felt worn out or weak in at least one area of your life and motherhood. That’s what I thought….we all have our hands raised.
It reminds me of what my Nan always said to my 6-year-old self…”If anything’s worth doing, Petal, it’s worth doing right.” And in this ministry of motherhood, there’s not a one of us that isn’t giving their all to it, not one of us in this community not giving heart, mind and body to our kids, not a one of us that isn’t doing all we can. And that can be exhausting. I’m not just talking physically, because mama the Lord can and does physically strengthen us, but sometimes tired is just how we’re going to feel in this finite, very human, season of life.
But sometimes we can find ourselves spiritually tired; soul tired. And that’s as human a condition as it gets as well. Yet often we’re soul tired when we haven’t relied on Jesus enough. When we haven’t kept Him in our thoughts and conversation throughout our day. When we’ve gone 24 hours and haven’t slowed our souls to be present with Him for a minute.
Soul weariness can be worse than physical fatigue, but God gives us a promise in this verse: God is an inexhaustible well of strength for the weary and burdened. It reassures us that God is here to provide strength even when we feel weak or powerless. It reminds our tired souls that God desires to increase the power of those who lack might, gumption and fight. And it offers us the truth that if we trust in God's strength and reliance, rather than relying solely on our own finite resources, He will fill us up. The key to enduring the struggles of motherhood with grace is not found within ourselves, but in our willingness to lean on God's strength.
Take a moment to:
Reflect: Are you soul tired, Momma? Have you taken time to sit with Jesus and let Him fill you up today?
