One Way

“In a world that tells us, and especially tells our kids, that we can forge our own path to heaven, we must cling with every fiber of our being to the one way God provided us.”

“And anyone who believes in God's Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn't obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God's angry judgment.” John 3:36 NLT
No more sorrow. No more pain. No more sickness, death, or disaster. The end of famine, poverty, and war. Mental illness and struggles with morality are gone forever. Only ever perfect peace, complete harmony, true unity, and pure, unblemished joy. This is the life of dreams, the best afterlife anyone could ask for, and culture tells us there are many paths to attaining it.
Scripture, however, is quite clear the only way to this reality is Jesus. And the belief John speaks of here is more than just acknowledging Jesus's existence. After all, as James writes, even the demons know Jesus is real and they tremble. The belief that leads us to eternal life is a belief that places confidence in Jesus and who He says He is. It agrees with Jesus when He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” and moves us to obey His commands.
Friends, Jesus is the only one who gave His life to wash away your sins. Only He was pure enough to make us right with God through His life and death. Only Jesus rose from the grave, defeating death itself. No one else loves you like He does, and no one ever could. In a world that tells us, and especially tells our kids, that we can forge our own path to heaven, we must cling with every fiber of our being to the one way God provided us.
Prayer: God, thank You for sending Jesus to have for us the path to righteousness. Thank You for accepting His sacrifice on our behalf and rewarding our obedience with eternal perfect life. Will You help us to hold unashamedly to the truth and remain steadfast in saving faith? May we point everyone around us to You. Amen.
