“Jesus is unconditional love and compassion; He teaches us that kindness is not just an action but a way of life.”

“A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 NIV
As the new school year starts, it’s important to review our family values with our children, particularly the importance of kindness. Jesus is unconditional love and compassion; He teaches us that kindness is not just an action but a way of life.
Mothers, we have a profound influence on our children’s hearts and minds. Let’s encourage them to embrace kindness in their daily interactions. Start by modeling this behavior at home. Simple acts, like sharing a smile with a neighbor or helping a friend in need, can show how kindness can exist in everyday life.
Discuss with your children the stories of Jesus—how He welcomed the outcast, healed the sick, and showed love to everyone, regardless of their background. Ask them to think of ways they can act like Him, and be an example of His love at school. Perhaps they can include a lonely classmate in their games, stand up for someone being bullied, or simply offer a word of encouragement to a friend.
As we guide our children, let’s remind them that kindness is powerful. It has the ability to transform hearts and create a more loving community, just as Jesus taught us. This school year, let’s strive to be instruments of His love and kindness.
Action Steps:
Help your children learn kindness and empathy.
Model empathy and kindness yourself
Discuss feelings, encourage children to express their feelings and recognize the emotions of others.
Encourage helping behaviors, involve children in community service or simple acts of kindness, such as helping a neighbor or volunteering.
The Gospels are full of accounts of Jesus’s kindness, but here are some to get you started. Share these with your children!
Heavenly Father, we just lift these mothers up to You Lord, whether they are sending their children off to school or homeschooling them. We ask for patience, grace, understanding and wisdom, Lord, to teach them Your ways, to always show them the love of God, to instill in them the compassion and love for Your people, God. In Your Holy name, we pray, Amen.
