Hope Through the Darkness

“Because of what Jesus did for me, and also you, we don’t have to stay in those dark, hopeless places.”

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”  1 Peter 1:3

There are seasons of my life that held a lot of darkness, a lot of negativity, a lot of selfishness, insecurity and unhappiness. Seasons without Jesus. Even if you’ve known Jesus your entire life, I think you probably know what it’s like to let your own human desires rule you. It might work out for a little but, but eventually that darkness creeps in and takes all hope with it.

But Jesus.

Jesus brought us hope by choosing to go to that cross in our place and then coming back three days later. Because of what Jesus did for me, and also you, we don’t have to stay in those dark, hopeless places.

Jesus offers us hope when no earthly thing can. Hope for an abundant life (John 10:10), hope for a relationship with God (John 14:6), and hope for eternal life (John 3:16). In His great mercy, He has drawn us out of the darkness, gave us birth into a new family, adopted us as His children (Ephesians 1:5), and helped us strip away all the negative.

When we set our eyes on Jesus, we truly become new creations, able to let those heavenly things stir us, let the Holy Spirit guide us, and live the abundant life God chose for us.

And because of that, we praise and celebrate Jesus this Christmas. Moms, when you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the hustle and bustle of the season, turn your focus to Jesus, allowing His hope to renew you.

Action Steps:

  • Take some time to reflect on how you’ve changed since accepting Jesus into your life, or what your life might look like without Jesus. Let the reminder of what life without Jesus looks like allow you to focus on the hope that He has for you.
