“Just as God rescues and brings us into a place, we have the privilege of guiding our children into a life of love, joy, and purpose.”

"He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me." Psalm 18:19
As mothers, one of our greatest joys is the opportunity to nurture and delight in our children. Psalm 18:19 reminds us of the truth that God delights in us, and this delight can inspire our relationship with our children. Just as God rescues and brings us into a place, we have the privilege of guiding our children into a life of love, joy, and purpose.
Delighting in our children means taking the time to appreciate their unique personalities, interests, and gifts. Each child is a precious creation, a reflection of God's love and creativity. When we actively engage with them, we foster an environment where they feel valued and cherished.
Consider the moments when you can express delight in your children's achievements, no matter how small. Celebrate their milestones, encourage their passions, and show interest in their dreams. Let them know that their efforts are recognized and appreciated, just as we are reminded of God's delight in us.
Delighting in our children extends beyond their accomplishments. It includes loving them in their imperfections, offering grace when they stumble, and walking alongside them in their struggles. Just as God patiently guides us, we can model unconditional love and support, helping our children go through life's challenges with confidence.
As we reflect on Psalm 18:19, let us remember that our role as moms is not just to create places in our home but also our hearts—places filled with laughter, encouragement, and love. By delighting in our children, we mirror the heart of God, who finds joy in His creation.
Action Step:
Create weekly one on one time with each of your children. Set aside a specific day and time each week for one-on-one time with each child. This could be a special outing, like going to a park, having ice cream, or simply staying home for a movie night. Plan an activity that your child enjoys or has expressed interest in. This could be anything from playing their favorite game to engaging in a hobby together. During this time, focus on being fully present. Put away distractions like phones and engage in meaningful conversations. Ask them about their dreams, goals, and feelings, showing genuine interest in their thoughts and experiences.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of my children. Help me to delight in them daily, recognizing their unique qualities and celebrating their journey. May my love reflect Your love, and may our home be a place filled with joy and grace. Amen.
