“But by offering Himself up for us, Jesus guaranteed for us an ultimate, complete, and eternal healing in heaven.”

“He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 NLT
Whether physical, mental, or spiritual, we have all needed healing at some point in time. We have all dealt with illness of some sort. Sin, unfortunately, is the one “sickness” everyone in this world has experienced and felt the consequences of.
When children are faced with chronic and/or severe illness, we often hear parents say, “I just wish I could trade places.” As moms, we don't want to see our kids suffer. As our Father, God doesn't like to see us suffer. And when our world was infested with sin, and we were powerless to fight against it, He stepped in and took our place.
Our scripture says He (Jesus) personally carried all of our sins to the cross. He got involved in a mess He had no part in creating, bore our spiritual sickness in His perfect body, and paid the full consequences of our choices. He allowed His body to be ravaged in order that we could be healed mind, body, and spirit.
Make no mistake, in this fallen world, we will experience suffering, heartache, and physical and mental illnesses. Tragically, there will be times when these illnesses claim victory over our earthly minds and bodies. But by offering Himself up for us, Jesus guaranteed for us an ultimate, complete, and eternal healing in heaven.
Action step:
Whatever you need healing for in life, bring it to Jesus, knowing He loves you and can work all things for good.
When things are hard, remember this life is not the end.
Prayer: God, I thank You for setting a redemption plan in motion as soon as humanity sinned against You. Thank You for taking our place and giving Yourself up so that we might be healed. Please help us to keep our eyes on You and always remember Your promises. We love You, and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
